Swampcandy, Alesana
Slim's, Raleigh
I can't even remember the special name Alesana coined for their brand of dyed-black-hair crabcore/screamo hybrid, but it's irrelevant in this instance anyway because they're playing this show "acoustic."

William Tyler, Hiss Golden Messenger
The Pinhook, Durham
William Tyler is the adorable & brilliant guitarist for Lambchop, and he has been doing a solo-guitar thing long enough for me to have seen it 3-4 times. Hiss Golden Messenger put out one of the best albums of 2011.

The new T0W3RS album is a dark & swirly affair (as are their live shows).

St. Vincent, Shearwater
Cat's Cradle, Carrboro
Loved that St. Vincent album from a couple of years ago. Still haven't warmed up to the latest one, which is perhaps because it's a darn chilly record. But live she is pretty freakin mindblowing.

Jeb Bishop/Tim Daisy Duo, Regina Hexaphone
Motorco Music Hall, Durham
Jeb Bishop used to live in Raleigh, years & years ago, and was in the freaky band Angels of Epistemology with Sara Bell of Regina Hexaphone. Now she lives here in Durham and Jeb lives in Chicago or someplace else that actually maybe supports jazz trombonists at least slightly.

Man Forever, Le Weekend, Conspicuous Convulsion
Nightlight, Chapel Hill
Man Forever is the drum-only side project of Kid Millions from Oneida. Le Weekend are the most "pop" band on this bill & even then it's a stretch to call them that. Conspicuous Convulsion is Jason Aylward (Valient Thorr), Drew Robertson, Kenneth Ells (Thunderlip, Church of Zann) and Crowmeat Bob (Savage Knights).

Other ways to get this info:

1) The handheld-optimized version of the site, or a new simplified text version of this page, for you lo-fi fans.

2) An RSS feed. AND! A weekly oggcast! (OK, it's just my WXDU radio show.)

3) An iCal feed of all the listed shows, updated nightly.

4) This listing is posted once or twice a week to ch-scene, the mailing list which is itself a mirror of alt.music.chapel-hill.

5) For you web 2.0 fans, we have a facebook app *and* a Twitter account.
